They both were born into the same city in low in stick families. twain struggle in school initially. Both their fathers were missing from the picture. However, Wes Moore who grows up to be the author was raised by a single mother because his father passes away due to a misdiagnosis. The others Wes Moore dad is not a part of his sons life by choice. The authors mother is a college graduate, prioritized education, and fight to find her son opportunities when she see that he is struggling to find the right path. The other Wes Moores mother never wants her sons to end up baffling in drugs and robbery, but is unable to meaningfully intervene.

Wes Moore, whose mother places him in private school, feels stuck between two words: his rich classmates and the kids in the neighborhood. He finds his place when he got send to military school.



At first, he hates the military school, but afterward a some month of being discipline by the sergeants, he orients his intent and learns always to be calm after he gets hit in the face while walking with his friend. Wes Moore has success his finish by being the first black Rhodes Scholar to come out of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. When Moore on his mission to learns Africa culture, he begins to cheat about the antithetic between the two cultures. Having a undecomposed role model in a child life make it easier for them to go down the wrong path is what Moore believes after a trip to Africa.
